Xinyi's smirk only grew. "You say that like it's a bad thing," they said.

Alex made a face. "It is." He didn't even want to think about it. Seeing Soda open his mouth to chime in, Alex shook his head again. "Look, take my word for it, I don't have the face structure or the head shape to pull it off." Xinyi just wanted him to look dumb, that was the point, but knowing Soda, he probably would have tried to reassure Alex about trying new looks... which was a nice sentiment as far as it went, but not necessary.

Soda deflated a little. "Well, I still think it might be cool. But-- Oh," he said, stopping mid-thought as he caught sight of something in the distance, behind Alex and Xinyi. "Hey, isn't that the guy who had to be thrown out last week?"

Tenma couldn't help but feel a chill run down his spine at the massive palace that cast an intimidating shadow against the sky. Whomever had put this gathering together had truly gone all out... some sort of rich person with nothing better to do? Or was it more of a community driven thing...? Tenma hadn't had a chance to investigate this town. They'd only just arrived there, after all.

Grimmer's attentions were turned by the sound of his companion coughing, muffled with a closed mouth, eyes watering a little. He hurriedly held his fruity drink out to Tenma, at least glad the man was getting something to eat and drink for once. Still, they would need to find some proper food soon. Maybe there was a cafe around here, or an out-of-the-way restaurant.

"It doesn't—ahem—it doesn't seem like a popular attraction. Most every one's staying out on the lawn..." Tenma mused once he'd drank enough to soothe his throat, agitated by dry cookie crumbles. He realized with a small jolt that he'd drank almost all of it, and murmured an apology as he started to move back towards the snack table to refill it for Grimmer. The tall man followed him with an affectionate sort of softness to his smile.

"Do you suppose it's scary inside?" Grimmer chirped, sticking close as Tenma refilled the cup and took another small sip of it before handing it back over. Grimmer sipped the almost sickeningly sweet juice and watched as a young couple walked up to the front of the palace, seemed to stop to read a sign, then hesitate and finally turn away.

Tenma hummed, finding the tension in his chest loosening with idle conversation. "Well... probably. Or, it's supposed to be. I'm sure if I was a kid, it would get a scream or two out of me, but not so much now."

The two Mr. Wilson fluttered up to the door, although it would be quite hard to tell that's what they were. After all, they were dressed in a two-bird costume that somewhat resembled a Xing Yun, one that draped over them and hid them completely, with only a small hole for Nosod, the one in front, to peek out from.

"Garrith, hurry up!" she hissed as they moved forward. "You've got to keep pace with me!"

"Are-are you sure this is a good idea?" he muttered.

"Don't be a wimp!" she replied, as they made their way up to the door.

"Trick or treat!" she called, pulling an interior string that made the costume's mouth drop open, revealing a bucket.

An eyeball on a stick - he hoped it wasn't a real eyeball, but there was no being sure without tasting it, and he certainly wasn't feeling hungry in this strange place. He slinked through the open door, and was suddenly surrounded by thick fog as the strange Doctor pulled it shut behind him.

He felt the skeletal rat brush against his paw this time, but it was immediately lost in the thick fog - he couldn't even begin to imagine how they had filled an indoor room with so much fog without it seeming to escape.

He wandered forward carefully, sniffing at each object looming towards him before he approached, and at last he reached another door - though this one had a small grinning imp doll hanging from it.

"Trick or...Treat?" He murmured, stepping back in surprise as the doll shrieked and the door swung open in front of him, seemingly on its own.

Feemor wasn't sure what his two lovers were thinking with this. He wasn't sure leaving him in charge of Granta was a good idea. Not that he didn't love Granta, but Granta seemed to be wholly uninterested in this activity.

He smiled fondly at the child who sat there quietly and ate his candy while his two father's went through the haunted attraction.

A fake rat scurried by and Granta watch it with disinterest before stuffing another candy in his mouth. The child was hard to frighten and while that was probably a good thing, he still worried this place wasn't much fun. The actors all seemed to not notice him sitting there off to the side. One nearly walked into him before Feemor rushed over and diverted their path.

It was hard when Granta possessed an odd ability to make people forget he existed and made their eyes seem to have trouble focusing on him, despite him not being force sensitive.

"Trick or Treat!"

At Russell's insistence, the cousins had made a beeline for the line of people waiting their turn for whatever prizes were being given out. He had claimed that they had to make sure they got their 'goodies' first, in case supplies ran out later on. But he had promised that they would take time to properly look at the decorations afterwards, and now that their treats were secured, Kaden was quick to drag him towards the fountain.

"How do you think they get it to look like that?" he asked, leaning in to gaze at the water.

"I have no clue," Russell responded. Then, with a grin on his face, he added, "I dare you to drink it! C'mon, it's probably pretty clean, they just put some color and stuff in it or something."

Kaden stared at the other man in shock for a few seconds before replying, "...no."

Awyn continued to jot down notes as the ghostly smoke began to fill the basin of the fountain. Other guests who had stared at Awyn wading into the pool began to back off as they saw the otherworldly sight unfold before them. Soon the smoke rose up behind the oblivious mage into the figure of a woman twice as tall as him, fairly similar to the shape of the statue. The ghostly figure lowered it's hands onto the small man's shoulders. Finally noticing something outside of his own little world, Awyn straightened up, fearing that he was going to be kicked out for wading into the water.

He slowly turned around to face the figure who touched his shoulder "now you see here! I did nothing to disturb the peace! I was merely inspecting how this statue got to be this way!" He rambled, pre-emptively trying to cut off any arguments from a possible security guard.

Sanarel did touch the skeletal dragon to a surrounding anticlimactic end. Fingers brushing dry bone on a long sweeping arc as the creature turned its head. It seemed not to notice, or not to care, as it completed it's arc without flinching.

Sanarel took their hand away and studied their fingers. No residue, nor any peculiar sensation lied there. They rubbed their fingers against their thumb and frowned.

"Everything you hoped?" Silthael asked. Their voice remained without inflection but Sanarel knew they must be amused by the whole situation.

He wasn't about to turn down an invitation to a party - especially not one that offered a copious amount of free sweets and desserts - but by golly, he was going to judge.

When the invitation had suggested showing up in costume to keep with the Halloween spirit, he was expecting a little more from the offerings than whatever this was. Half the people hadn't even bothered to dress up! The other half were wearing half-assed costumes that could only be considered crimes against dignity. No one over the age of six should be putting on a bedsheet with eye holes and pretending that counted as a costume, for example. Some of those sheets didn't even look washed.

There had been a few he'd been impressed by, of course. He had spotted a young man in the most impeccable-looking zombie makeup and an incongruously well-tailored suit when he came in, but the man had disappeared before he had a chance to compliment the outfit. A nice young lady in a beautifully-designed magical girl costume that looked more high fashion than Halloween costume, for another.

Kumara’ tails of flame curled about, though strictly in a small area behind them, as they were aware of the people around the Fellox and didn’t want to cause any... accidents.

They were handed over a colorful cup of “brew” from the cauldron, which was bright orange-red and had a strong scent coming off the liquid. Kumara took a sniff at the cup. “Hmm... this one smells quite... sweet.” They gave the liquid a soft sip, finding the taste of it very enjoyable as well.

Meanwhile, Jace was taking his time to enjoy the bundle of candies that Kumara had gave to him. He did notice the Fellow waving at him, but wanted to wait for the crowd to spread apart first. Truthfully, he was trying to distract himself from all the noise and people.

The “magical” but “scary” decorations were already nerve-wrecking by themselves. He needed a bit of more time to get used to the setting, and wasn't willing to admit that he, indeed, found Hallow's Eve, a creepy experience he had only witnessed very few times in his life. “Um, give me a few minutes, and... I’ll be right there.” Jace spoke up, before once again taking a bite off a bar of dark chocolate.

A few moments later, the large canine creature hurried over to their anxious, but sugar-fueled companion. “I’m glad you’re enjoying the treats, but, I wanted you to come pick from one of the cauldron’s brews,” Kumara spoke softly, although with a tone of concern. “This bright red one they gave me to begin with, is definitely my favorite. Why don’t you try it?”

In a moment of haste and temporary disorientation, the pup had taken a couple steps back and sat herself down to nurse the small newly acquired bump to the head. What in the world was that? Usually she was pretty good about not running into things like just now, but... it was as if it just appeared from out of nowhere! But, that couldn't be right... could it?

Tondra would have to regain her bearings a little bit after that one. But once she'd gotten that moment to settle herself, she would finally peek out from beneath a paw to see what was there.

Clack.

She would hear the sound of something touching the ground, with a certain hollowness to it, and the very first thing she'd see was... bone? Immediately she tilted her head at this. It had a smoothed out surface and that off white color to it, that she was positive that was what this is. Except... how did it even get here? And on top of that, as her eyes wandered upward... How was there an entire skeleton just standing there?

He stood out like a sore thumb amidst the excited people who has come to enjoy the celebrations. One might mistake his religious attire for a costume, but no. It was the real deal, and he hadn't bothered to change. It might actually inspire people to not interact him, assuming he was here to partake in the holiday and the little activities.

Technically, yes, but honestly, no.

He scanned the place with a sour, disinterested look on his face. The decorations did nothing for him - they were arguably annoying more than anything - he was here for only one thing. And luckily, he found it very quickly. "Sergio."

Luce dipped his left pinkie finger in the neon green liquid and brought it up to his lips to taste. It seemed... slightly sweet? Luce's best guess was either some kind of food dye or an enchantment that happened to leave the water with a sweet aftertaste. Magic's been known to do stranger things. If only due to the glow and the way the rest of this presentation was set up, Luce's money was on magic.

Two bats wandered the palace grounds. One wore a long black cape with red lining, the large collar flaring up and out. The smaller flit back and forth behind them.

With all the business the online book club had brought his little bookstore lately, it had been an obvious choice for Trevor to dress up as Dracula. It warmed his heart to see so many young people taking an interest in classic literature, even through an unconventional format.

He'd also chosen the costume in the hopes of attracting the attention of some of the younger attendees here, and potentially gaining a few new clients for the bookstore. However, he wasn't likely to do much of that way out here.

Trevor looked across the lawn at the crowded party inside the palace and felt his heart squeeze. Damn his social anxiety.

He lifted up his wing-arm and the morloth settled on the new perch.

"Well," Trevor half-sighed, half-questioned to his companion, "Shall we go in?"

The morloth chirped an affirmative, and the two returned to the sea of costumes.

Grimmer hummed in reply with an amused squint in his eyes, taking note of the good doctor's well-masked but still noticeable curiosity. From what he'd learned of the man in their travels, he did his best to be quite serious and proper, but he had a young streak to him that made him more charitable to silly ideas. Grimmer liked it about him. And while he would certainly be alright with simply relaxing on the gaudily decorated lawn... he couldn't help but give a tiny, playful nudge against Tenma's arm with his own, and nod with intent towards the manor. "Well...?"

Tenma blinked owlishly, his mouth threatening to twitch into a smile. After only a few beats of hesitation, he finally nodded and waved for Grimmer to follow. On the way Grimmer finished off his share of the cookies and punch, and discreetly dropped both into a trash can as they neared what seemed to be the main attraction. Tenma let out a small whistle as he craned his neck, peering upwards. "This is bigger than any Halloween prop I've ever seen."

Grimmer was inclined to agree with him, though he had close to no experience with such things. Just as he was about to peer over Tenma's shoulder to read the sign at the front, he was distracted by a soft clearing of a throat behind him.

"Um... e-excuse me, sirs... could I ask you a favor?"
