Thunder rolled over the churning sea as the clouds thickened and moved in a way that almost seemed...alive. Along one of the main shipping routes, ships were tossed and turned, their sailors struggling to be heard over the howling winds as they wrestled with the rigging. Streaks of lightning came crashing down, almost teasing in their near-misses of the sailing vessels. Bravely, the men (and occasional woman) ignored the deadly flashes as they concerned themselves with keeping their vessel upright and intact.

A particular vessel, bearing a worn out mermaid on its prow, plunged through the waves. This vessel sported one very brave sailor - the only female on her ship - who hauled herself up the mast to secure the mainsail, which was slowly unfurling in the wind. Only for a moment did she pause, eyes wide, as a resounding boom signalled an explosion on another ship in their convoy.
