Two months she had been in the blindingly white city. Two months of absolutely nothing. No sign of her target, no word from her master, not even a date with the cute barista that she had been visiting.
Azuriel had been told to head to Aldrect and wait. She'd gotten to her new apartment easily enough, and she'd gotten a good hold on the city and its layout. No word ever came to her about what exactly she was meant to do in the city. After a while she got into a rhythm of working. Before she left she was given a book filled with names, a reaper's book of sorts, but not as magical or official. When she had settled into the city she began to take names off the list. It was the most she figured she could do with what she had.
Easily bored of the same routine Azuriel had tried to be social. There was a cafe near her house that she frequented. She'd become smitten with the barista that worked in the morning, and had come to know some of the regulars. It was nice to have others to talk with, even if she had to tell them lies about herself. They knew her as a solitary soul that worked in an office building downtown.
After a rough night of collecting only a single soul Azuriel was on her way to the cafe. She brushed off her paranoia of being followed. The feeling had popped up weeks ago, but she knew it was just because she had been out of contact with her master for far too long.
