“No. This legend explains why a djinn’s magic is twisted or tainted or what-have-you. A djinn has access to pure magic, but they are unable to control it. Instead they give over magic to those who cannot use it, and have never been trained in how magic works. A man may wish to be wealthy, but what he desires is to rid himself of whatever pitiful life he might lead. The magic is then used instead to rob a bank and place the money in his home so the authorities take him away to prison. It’s technically what he wished for, but his desire was to have a new life, and the magic made it so. Such a twisting isn’t helped when most djinn are lawless, or go along with the whims of their master and so feed into whatever desire they truly have,” he explained.
“So you’re a djinn?” Eirke asked incredulous.
